I commented Joey, on DebConf, about an idea on bringing Debian-News.net news syndication into the front page of the Debian Wiki, on some similar way as Wikipedia displays current news on their main page. After thinking a bit more on the idea, and after actually receiving a green light on the Debian Wiki BOF, I thought it would be better if we could include more than only one feed, so we could include more Debian-related news sites, like Debian Administration, DebCentral, etc, as well as some other official feeds like the DSAs or the DWNs.

So, after setting a local Planet up and writing a little script, we ended up with the Latest official and unofficial Debian-related news box on the wiki FrontPage, which I hope people would like.

Further information about this is can be found at the FrontPageNews page.

Great DebConf!

Just as Tore said: “This is the best DebConf ever”. Isn’t it great?

I started really enjoying this DebConf once I stopped worrying about bullshit, once I stopped worrying about senseless things and started to really give a shit about almost anything. Why do I have to worry about the DPL giving a shit or not on the Latinamerican Debian community, even after being invited to meet the guys or to attend our BOF? Why do I need to worry about people skinny dipping, since finally it’s up to them? I started to meet people and to hang on with several old friends and began enjoying the meeting here. Why do I need to worry if people are watching the unpleasant and poorest side of Mexico (bad Internet connections, towns lost in the desert, hookers, rain breaking roofs, etc, etc, etc)? Why do I even have to worry if people get sick or not by drinking water or whatever? I enjoy people here, thanks to all the organization cabal, thanks for your effort and your time on this.

I surely cannot hide my displeasure on some of the things here, but I didn’t do anything to make it better, obviously, since I’m an irresponsible person.

But after leaving all of this behind, I think Ana and me are having a great time sharing time with friends around us (the friends, los cuates, we are here for).

A bit pissed off

After the start of the DebCamp I’m just pissed off about just everything. I don’t know if that’s because people could expect you to do something you aren’t supposed to do; or because people are just trying to do children pranks and only look like adult morons; or because I’m just exhausted of children urinating in the pool; or because of the heat; or because I’m supposed to handle all the jokes about Mexican food; or because of having to go to school everyday; or because of having to skip my classes; or because of missing Ana, missing Venezuela; or because of the fact that I won’t be able to get the money I’m spending on DebConf back; or just because every fucking thing around me.

On the other hand, just as I heard Holger saying: “I will try to relax and have fun”, and won’t give a shit at anything not worthwhile.

It depends how you see it.

DebConf starts this week!

While reading the available documentation on Joey Hess’s ikiwiki, I started to see his pics on previous DebConfs. It’s amazing how quick things can happen. It seemed to me DebConf5 happened last week or something and we are now facing the Mexican DebConf in a couple of days. :D

Last months have been passing quickly, events and people around me are being completely appreciated and loved from my part. And now DebConf is here. Just here. It’s true that I wasn’t able to help as I wished on the organization people, because of my moving to Venezuela in the last couple of months, but DebConf, and everything around it, is starting this week for me. Tomorrow, being International Workers’ Day, I will be shooting pictures from the airport to the Taxqueña bus station (and all the way on the subway), in order to help the tutorial on how to get to Oaxtepec. On Tuesday I will be heading to Instituto Nacional de Migración for some personal issues. On Wednesday, I’ll be picking rubito-güerito up from the airport. On Thursday, we’ll be heading to Oaxtepec and on Friday and Saturday more friends are arriving :). Gunnar has also asked me if I can pick a couple of servers up at HP during the week.

DebConf will start for me this week, and I’m really excited about it. :)
